Really a great line up, super diverse and interesting acts.
from the Rolling Stone article:
Beyoncé, Nine Inch Nails, Deadmau5 and Phoenix are set to headline the second edition of Budweiser’s Made in America Festival in Philadelphia. The lineup for the Jay-Z-curated fest, to be held on the city’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway from August 31st to September 1st, also includes Queens of the Stone Age, Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, A$AP Rocky, Wiz Khalifa, the Gaslight Anthem, Public Enemy and Solange. You can check out this year’s entire Budweiser Made in America lineup on Spotify.
Although Budweiser officials had discussed with Jay-Z the possibility of having him headline again, they decided it would dilute the impact of the festival to have the rapper perform in consecutive years. That’s not to say the MC won’t still pop up at the festival, Paul Chibe, vice president of U.S. marketing at Anheuser-Busch, tells Rolling Stone. “He potentially can [still] participate,” Chibe says. “He may show up. I know he’ll probably be there to watch his wife perform.”
Budweiser and Jay-Z sought a diverse lineup spanning sounds and styles for the second incarnation of the festival. “Many people would have said mixing Run-D.M.C. with Pearl Jam and Jay-Z [was ill-advised],” Chibe said, referring to last year’s headliners. “But I think we delivered an amazing experience. We worked with Jay to find the right mix of artists to bring this to life again.”
Ron Howard and Brian Grazer filmed the inaugural festival last year for a documentary about Made in America and Jay-Z’s rise to fame. If all goes according to plan, Chibe said, the documentary will be released before this year’s festival. “We’re hoping it comes out this summer sometime right before the next Made in America festival,” Chibe says. “It’s still in production and we continue to develop it. It’s an amazing narrative.”
